We chose the cultivar, then grew it ourselves.

Every product on this store starts with one selected line of White Kwao Krua, bred for high isoflavone content and grown on St.Herb’s own plantation using organic farming methods.

The cultivar

Years of selection for one thing: isoflavones

Pueraria mirifica varies a lot from plant to plant. Wild roots can differ widely in their phytoestrogen content, which makes a consistent product hard to build.

So St.Herb spent many years selecting a cultivar richest in isoflavones, the phytoestrogens researchers find most interesting in this plant. That single line is what we plant, harvest and extract.

Growing our own raw material on a large site means we don’t depend on whatever root is available on the market that season.

Our plantation philosophy

The 5G standard, from soil to finished product

Our selected cultivar is processed under five “Good Practice” principles. Each one covers a stage where quality is usually lost.

  1. Good Agricultural Practice

    GAP · Growing

Our own large plantation supplies our raw material, farmed on organic principles.

  2. Good Harvesting Practice

    GHP · Harvest

Roots are lifted only at the right time, so the raw material is at its best.

  3. Good Laboratory Practice

    GLP · Testing

Raw material and finished products are analysed against a standard before release.

  4. Good Clinical Practice

    GCP · Research

Products are clinically tested on an ongoing basis, with medical research partners abroad.

  5. Good Manufacturing Practice

    GMP · Production

Every product is made in GMP-certified factories.

Why the farm matters

What the root is studied for

Phytoestrogens, especially isoflavones, are the reason people take Pueraria mirifica. Taken at the right dose, they are researched for support in these areas.

  1. Female characteristics

Especially for women with low natural estrogen, including during menopause.

  2. Breast and skin appearance

The main reason most people choose our serums, creams and capsules.

  3. Bone structure

Studied alongside estrogen’s role in bone density.

  4. Cardiovascular health

Part of the wider research on phytoestrogens.
